4- New Projects Update: This year we want to team with the local church in a social networking initiative and help them win the relationship war for the next generation.
What do we mean by the relationship war?
In today’s Internet society we find more and more relationships being made on the internet "in virtual space", in facebook, twitter etc. This is a cause of concern because the Christian life is one of a personal relationship with God and we are to demonstrate Christian Love to one another in personal relationships with them in the context of the local church. It appears that the local church is losing the relationship war with the next generation and Bible.org being an Internet based ministry feels the need to move from an impersonal biblical library reference site to one that is more personal (community based) and attempt to team with the local church to help them reestablish the relationships that are being built in facebook and with the world. Our desire is to work with the church and other like minded people to encourage people to demonstrate the Love of Christ in Bible study groups within the Local Church context. If we are successful in this we will be doing what Christ expects us to be doing.
To achieve this, we are putting together a new bible.org site that will be controlled by users.(
users.bible.org ) On this site users will be able to blog, setup public or private groups for their special interests or for their Bible study group. They will be able to
Publish” their material for others to share e.g. sermons, Bible study lessons, position papers etc. It is our prayer though this new site, the world will see Christians loving one another, really caring for one another and be drawn to Christ through people sharing their lives not only on the Internet but in their homes and Churches. (This is our major new initiative.)
Our other ongoing Projects:
- We continue to encourage people to translate our studies into their languages
- We have set up a volunteer program for people to work on a task to the benefit of the community
- The NET Bible is very well accepted and is in use on line electronically by millions of users. But many still do not have a paper copy they can hold in their hands, we have heard from many bible.org users that they think it is important to get printed NET Bibles in more hands – both as gifts from fellow believers and having the NET Bible stocked in local booksellers. As you know, printed NET Bible sales help generate income to keep bible.org operating. We have decided to aggressively start selling the NET Bible. We have just received a new print run and we are beginning to turn the corner on NET Bible awareness so it is time to ask our bible.org and NET Bible user base to help us tell others about the NET Bible and its 60,000+ notes. Our prayer is that this increased promotional effort to see every pastor with their own copy of the NET Bible. Coupled with good holiday sales should help us enter next year in the black. God is good and we are encouraged by number of good NET Bible reviews that have appeared on the web lately and by the fact that our new site is seeing more and more traffic every month and new volunteers are coming forward to join the team. (We will put these reviews on our new NET Bible brochure site http://netbible.com. If you would like to buy a NETBible for a Christmas gift for your Pastor or family/friend go here
