***DISCLAIMER***
We are providing this link to our new Beta NET Bible Study tool. Please keep in mind we still call it Beta for a reason. It has some issues and a few unstable results. We are also working on it live as we tweak the enhancements. We see this as a living growing tool with changes, enhancements and modification happing all the time. We are very excited to be able to show you this tool. **We are still working on the filters on the web searches. If you happen to come across a site that may make your grandmother blush please click on the remove link.**

The Net Bible online study tool is a great online tool and now we have taken this tool one step further. Internally called the beta, it allows you to do more that the original version. With the current online study tool you can:
• Search any book of the bible and see side by side the text and note right next to each other.
• See verses in multiple translations, not just the NET.
• Get daily reading programs at the click of a tab.
• Promote what you are reading to your twitter status.
• Look up words in the dictionary.
• Search Bible.org’s over 15,000 articles for the same passage you are studying.
• See the Greek or Hebrew for the same text you are studing.
And new Enhanced NET Bible online study tool (Beta) edition:
Background: We began this development because we believe that the future of Bible study software is here. Almost 1 million people use the current online study tool each month. We are improving it, adding multiple languages and making it work when not connected to the Internet for the 3rd world.
Commercial bible study software costs about $800 for about a Gigabyte of reference materials. Our new Beta reader will initially serve up about a 1000 Gigabytes of bible study materials. Beta will integrate Google Maps to show you all the places in the Bible, teaches beginners how to study smarter, supports all languages, and scales to serve a few billion users. All this code was written by 1 programmer.
Features
•
Its portable : Try http://beta.net.bible.org on your iPad at Church this Sunday.
• Login and select your primary translation Aside from the NET ( KJV, NLT, MSG with more to come as we get permission..) We are talking to other organizations about using this tool for their translations and including their “Full” translation into our tool.

• Login and save your favorite passages as bookmarks
• Login and post what you are reading as your Facebook status.
• Login and provide your Galaxie username and password and see the full Theological Journals when you use the universal search. (If you do not have a Galaxie account at 50$/yr you will only see a brief part of the journals.)
• Search the “Christian web” on the Internet for your search term.
Our goal is for this tool to be the premier study tool used by all translations.
What tasks do we need to finish the project.
We currently have one developer, who is also responsible for other core functions of our operation, working on this project. We need to be able to hire more developers so that we can complete the following:
• Finish working out some of the glitches in the system (we still call it beta)
• Install other “full” translations into the system.
• Work with the translations teams so we can provide this tool in other languages. (e.g. Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean and hopefully Spanish)
• Help refine our Internet search functions to provide more relevant search results for the term being used.
What is needed to complete this project?
Personnel – A developer(s) to help us build this project
Financial - We need to raise enough fundsApprox $125,000 to hire developers to work on this project. This skill set is hard to find.
Chinese Net Bible see project page here.
We see the need for a Chinese NET Bible. With over 2 billion Chinese speaking people living amongst us, we see the need to supply them with a version of the bible exactly as we provide it in English today.
What is needed to complete this project?
Personnel – Project managers, and developers and scholars are needed to make this project happen.
Financial – We need to raise funds $200,000 which will include to hire developers, Scholars, language translation approvals and pay for the digital distribution of in a bible study program followed by printing of this translation in Chinese.
Internet Growth
Keeping up with technology
The Internet is growing at a rate of about 30% a year and mobile devices are growing at an even larger rate. Last year we had over 407,000 visits from mobile devices. New technologies are emerging all over the world, which provides new markets every year. Most of South Africa uses a cell phone to connect with the Internet. .
What is needed to complete this project?
Personnel - We need developers who are knowledgeable in server technologies and mobile interfacing.
Financial -
We need to raise funds of $100,000 to pay for servers, storage and bandwidth that continue to support the 320 million pages/downloads we have every month. This would also allow us to meet the 30% growth rate of the Internet and to develop mobile interfaces for our offerings.
3rd World Resources
Stand Alone Resources and the ability to reach those users who's cultures are orally based. 50% of the world population prefers to learn via oral means and much of the 3rd world is illiterate.
We want to continue to develop resources that can be used as stand alone processes. There are still missionaries in parts of the world that do not have a Internet connection. Our goal is to provide our current resources such as bible studies, the NET Bible. Articles, sermons and more to these missionaries in the “Non-Net” world.
What is needed to complete this project?
We need to partner with those working in the oral cultures and see how we might partner.
Personnel – We need developers knowledgeable in indexing and HTML and oral technologies
Financial – We– We need to raise funds $30,000 to support these developers and to provide the technical tools for the missionaries to work with. (Portable hard drives, flash drives, laptops, …)
Church Services
Church Services is something new we are starting. We want to provide the church with the tools needed to “seek and find the lost” and then help them train these same people into “Disciples of Jesus Christ”
Training Material and Ministry Teaching.
Our goal is to provide/produce training material for small churches that cannot afford it. In essence we want to be able to train the trainer and provide the tools for them to be successful in their task.
Enhance our Children’s ministry
Our Children’s ministry advisory board is requesting a $90,000 budget for 2011 in order to:
1- Translate Children’s training and curriculum into Spanish.
2- Move classroom training to the web so churches around the globe can take advantage of training on how to set up an effective Children's ministry program and volunteers can take it when they have time.
3- A graphic artist/illustrator to make the Children’s curriculum kid friendly. (This is especially important so we do not lose a generation of kids.)
Pastoral Support
Our goal is to provide resources to pastors to help them with their day-to-day activities including their spiritual walk. We will be providing a monthly newsletter and a pastors’ only section on Bible.org to help pastors. This help would include spiritual encouragement, tech tips and other feature designed just for pastors.
What is needed to complete this project?
Personnel - We need people with training skills to help us put together class curriculums, Spanish translators for children’s materials and people willing to help encourage pastors.
Financial – in addition to the $90,000 for the children’s ministry we will need to hire staff to help develop most of this material.
Training Road Map
Follow the Spiritual Road
Bible.org has over 15,000 articles written by Godly men/women all over the globe. Our goal is to put these articles into a system that would allow you to read them in a sequence or group that would enhance your walk with the Lord.
We would like to create 4 or 5 groups, from non-believer to mature believer. We would then take all of are 15,000 articles and put them into each of those 4 or 5 buckets. We would then create an assessment test that would give you a basic idea of which group you should be reading in. By following the path set forth, over time you should not only see a different in your life you, you would find yourself in a different group with new material to read.
How do our visitors benefit from the project? – Each Visitor will be given the opportunity to fine-tune their spiritual walk. This can be done in the privacy of their home and that works with their schedule not matter how hectic it may be.
What is needed to complete this project?
Personnel – This will require many people to complete this project. If a volunteer could read and rate 4 – 6 articles an hour our personnel needs would look like this:
When will the project be done? Number of volunteers/hours
1 person 2,500 – 3,750 hours
2 people 1,250 – 1,875 hours
3 people 833 – 1,250 hours
4 people 625 – 937 hours
5 people 500 – 750 hours
Based on 10hrs a week of volunteer time, and the number listed above, the project could take from 1.4 to 7.2 years.
This does not include developer changes to our system and monitors checking on the process and quality of the work being done.
Financial – If we can not get the volunteers to provide their time for this project then we would be required to hire personnel for the project. We need to raise $130,000 to hire a project Engineer to work this process including setting up the classifications, assessment test and overseeing the classification process.
